This past weekend, we at Super Art Fight had the honor and the pleasure of being a part of the debut of the new Philadelphia-area video gaming convention GameX, which took place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
Over the course of the weekend, we presented 4 mini-shows, each showcasing a unique bout with Super Art Fight roster members alongside the debuting Bree Rubin!
The results from the matches presented were as follows.
Saturday Show 1: Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi defeated Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz
Saturday Show 2: Super Art Fight Champion Michael Bracco defeated Chris Impink in a non-title bout.
Sunday Show 1: Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz defeated Super Art Fight Champion Michael Bracco in a non-title bout
Sunday Show 2: Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi defeated Chris Impink and Bree Rubin in a triple threat bout.
You may note that Michael Bracco suffered his first defeat since his debut against Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz. While these “road shows” don’t effect official standings, they certainly help our artists in petitioning for a title shot. Should be interesting to see what happens on the road to Super Art Fight 6.
A big thanks to the gang at GameX for having us out (Tristin Hightower and Keith Kozak in particular for their assistance), to Darren Gendron for his help on the live auction art, our artists (in particular, the debuting Bree Rubin) and Dominic from MAGFest for providing live music during our bouts.
It was an honor and a pleasure to debut in the Greater Philadelphia area, and hopefully we at SAF will see you again in 2010.
Speaking of 2010, you may notice the Fan Survey isn’t stickied anymore. We’ve received a ton of GREAT responses, and we look forward to taking them under advisement as we plan 2010!
October 23rd, 2009 — Show Announcements, Show Coverage

First things first, a HUGE thanks to the Metro Gallery for having us as a part of last night’s super rad show featuring Rah! Rah! Replica, …soihadto… and the headlining Protomen.
It was an absolute blast, and we tested something new, which we didn’t publicize (as we weren’t sure if it was going to work out).
That was – LIVE STREAMING FROM THE VENUE! That’s right, as the screenshot above shows, Nick and Jami drew live to an audience over the web. Things like this are why, if you’re not already, you NEED to follow the Super Art Fight twitter. You never know what’ll be on there. If you’d like to watch a recording of the live feed, go here!
The finished mural will be sold on eBay, and details on that will be coming soon.
Now, for this weekend…

Straight from our amazing staff photog, Mr. Brian Slaski, comes this gallery of photos from our Metro Gallery debut this past Friday.

October 13th, 2009 — Super Double Awesome Challenge
Last week, NASA shot an empty rocket into the butt of the moon to try to find water. For this week’s Super Double Awesome Challenge, we want you to imagine the Moon’s revenge. What would the Moon crash into Earth to exact sweet, interstellar revenge? You have until this Friday to upload your piece to our Flickr group. Good luck!

As promised, we came at Super Art Fight 5 with a furious vengeance, and intended to deliver one of our greatest shows yet.
With a packed audience filling The Metro Gallery, 3 of the craziest bouts Super Art Fight had ever presented hit the combative canvas, and when the smoke cleared, a debut lead to victory, a rivalry was settled, and a dynasty began.

Match 1: The team of Jamie Baldwin & Danielle Corsetto defeated the team of Bryan Prindiville & Kelsey Wailes in a tag team contest.
This match started the show with a fury, as the war of words between Corsetto and Prindiville lead to a conflict both on and off the canvas, as markers were broken, opponents were drawn on, and the crowd was blown away by the talents of these four artists. At the end of the day, only one team could win, and it was the debuting Corsetto and talented veteran Baldwin who gained the audiences attention and the victory.

Match 2: Lar deSouza defeated Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz in a Grudge Match, going into Sudden Death Overtime.
Having riveted our New England audience in our Connecticut debut this past Summer, we knew that this would be a match for the ages. But what we didn’t expect was that it would be possibly one of the greatest bouts in our short history. From the mind games played by Borkowicz with an elaborate, hulking intro, to canvases being used as a weapon (taking out our referee), to the Wheel of Death being shut down by the pure awesome (or by a technical issue, depending on how you look at it), this match was bell to bell insanity. Insanity so strong, that the audience was split down the middle. After Sudden Death Overtime (what people normally call “Rock Paper Scissors”), deSouza was announced as the winner. While the issue was anything but friendly going into the bout, with smacktalk across the net and being said before the live audience, Borkowicz showed grace in defeat, the Super Art Fight co-founder shaking the hand of deSouza, and settling the issue as a gentleman.

Match 3: Super Art Fight Champion Michael Bracco defeated Chris “Impact” Impink for a successful v1 defense.
Going into this match, the anticipation was high. Bracco, a supernova of SAF, starting at the bottom with a loss on his debut show, working his way to the top as champion, was attempting to do what had been deemed impossible – having a successful defense of the SAF Championship. Impink, having had a losing record thus far, having gained a key victory at SAF4, found himself with an SAF title shot, and wanted to show his win was not a fluke. And folks, it’s safe to say they brought it. Displaying some of the most surreal and bizarre art on a canvas yet, taking prime advantage of our 21+ venue for the night, Bracco and Impink fought an extremely close bout. But at the end, there could only be one victor, and Bracco did the impossible, defending the belt and starting his legacy as Super Art Fight Champion.
Post Show Notes
- Impressed by the performance of Danielle Corsetto, the Super Art Fight team would like to extend an open invite to the Girls With Slingshots creator to the same “Open Door” system provided to past guest competitors like Lar deSouza, Joe Dunn, and Yuko Ota. Danielle, any time you want to join us again, we’re game. Thanks again for being a part of SAF5.
- Speaking of impressed, while he felt the pain of defeat on Friday night, Super Art Fight has extended a slot on the full-time roster to Hello With Cheese artist Bryan Prindiville. Welcome aboard, Bry.
- The full SAF rankings have been updated, and showcase some interesting shifts in the title contendership. Chris Impink has to start at the bottom again, having received a title shot, but the entire scope of the playing field has changed.
- We were super pleased with the reaction from our new home at The Metro Gallery. We apologize for any issues with line-of-sight for the show and/or the art, and we’ve already spoken with the team there with revisions for future shows. In addition, we intend to keep our relationship open with the Ottobar, giving us two wonderful homes in Charm City.
- Look for Super Art Fight 6 sometime in early 2010. Details as they’re available.
Thank you again to all the artists, all the attendees, our staff for the night, Karmella’s Game for two amazing sets (how good was that Journey cover?) and Sarah at the Metro Gallery for having us. We’ll see you all real soon.
October 11th, 2009 — Show Announcements

Ever since Super Art Fight debuted in June 2008, people have long requested us to appear at dozens of cities across the United States. So whenever we can announce a new location for us, there’s an air of excitement.
That being said, it’s an honor and a pleasure to announce we’ll be making our Philadelphia debut at the inaugural GameX games and media expo on October 23rd through the 25th.
Set at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA, GameX is a convention dedicated to the world of video gaming and assorted media, featuring demos of the latest games, live music from video game coverbands, appearances from celebrities and so much more, and now their show is going to get kicked into high gear, with the Greatest Live Art Competition in the Universe – Super Art Fight.
We’re super excited to be a part of this show, and what makes this unlike any show of ours prior, is GameX won’t be home to just one…but two seperate Art Fight events.
Stay tuned to SuperArtFight.com for details including talent roster, times and matchups for each show, and point your browser to GameXpo.us for ticketing and other event details.
October 11th, 2009 — Show Announcements

As announced at Super Art Fight 5 this past Friday night, we at Super Art Fight will be doing another of our patented “Artjam” appearances, doing a live mural alongside a performance by Nashville’s own The Protomen!
The show will be Thursday Night, October 22nd, 2009, back at The Metro Gallery, where we appeared this past Friday night.
If you’ve never seen the Protomen before, you’re in for quite the treat. A massive undertaking, the Protomen perform a rock opera detailing an alternate version of the legend of the video game character Mega Man. Mixing a country twang with 80′s rock bravado along with a taste of the Blade Runner score, while dressed in stunning costumes, this band is simply unlike anything you’ve seen before.
We at Super Art Fight are honored and pleasured to be a part of their show on October 22nd, and we are pleased to announce that the art from this show will be sold online, knowing the Protomen’s dedicated national fanbase.
Keep your eyes locked on this website for images of the art once it’s completed, and details on how it will be sold online.
Look forward to seeing you on October 22nd!
October 9th, 2009 — Show Announcements

Once again, a cycle of announcement, hype and excitement has come to a close, and it’s up to us at Super Art Fight to deliver.
Tonight, Friday, October 9th, we debut at the awesome venue of The Metro Gallery, to present arguably one of our most stacked cards of all time, Super Art Fight 5.
The fighters are coming into town, the Wheel of Death is being loaded up, checklists are being checked off, mics are being tested, songs are being practiced, and it all comes down to 8pm, when doors open.
Should you be in need of directions to The Metro Gallery, click here for a Google Map of the location. There is ample parking right next door in an affordable and secure parking garage.
Here’s the schedule for tonight’s events. Of course, all projected times are subject to change as well…we’re human.
8pm – Doors open for attendees. Tickets are available at the door, it’s just $10 for admittance. The Metro Gallery is a 21+ only venue, so we apologize to our younger attendees for any inconvenience.
9pm – Our hosts, Ross Nover and Marty Day hit the stage along with Super Art Fight DJ, DJ Sheephead to get Super Art Fight underway.
9:10pm – The first bout of the evening is our tag team war, pitting the team of Jamie Baldwin & Danielle Corsetto against the team of Bryan Prindiville & Kelsey Wailes. This match is scheduled for a 30 minute time limit, and has taken the internet by storm, with challenge videos, call outs on websites, angry twitter messages and even ADVERTISING taking this bout to the next level.
9:50pm – Our musical guest, Karmella’s Game takes the stage for the first of two musical sets for the evening.
10:05pm – Our second bout of the evening, the grudge match between Super Art Fight co-founder Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz and webcomics artist extraordinaire Lar deSouza tackles the canvas. Spinning out of our Connecticon show, this match got personal fast, with call outs all over various social networks, including photoshops on Flickr and flat out trashtalk on Twitter. All the talk won’t mean anything at the end of this 30 minute war, as there can only be ONE victor.
10:40pm – Karmella’s Game rocks the Metro Gallery for their second and final set of the night.
11:20pm – After two fantastic examples of artistic combat, we move to a battle of sportsmanship for the Super Art Fight Championship. With a 45 minute time-limit, it pits the newly crowned champion, the artistic supernova Michael Bracco against the man who, without whom, there would be no Art Fight – the founder of the “Iron Artist” competition and inventor of the Wheel of Death – Chris Impink. These two gentleman don’t have a grudge, but both want to taste the flavor of sweet victory. For Bracco, to be the first successfully defending champion will put his name in the record books. For Impink, a chance to show his win at Super Art Fight 4 wasn’t a fluke, and to take home the gold.
All and all, the show will be over shortly after midnight, and we intend to give you a quality show worth every penny. You, the fans, fuel us, allowing us to do what we do so well, and we’re going to give back a great show as good as the hype you allow us to build.
Super Art Fight 5. Tonight. 8pm. The Metro Gallery. Just $10.
Join us, won’t you?
