At Super Art Fight 8, a star was born. Actually, there were two stars born.
The first came out of left field. The second was the result of over a year’s worth of toiling and battling, working his way up the rankings.
And after Super Art Fight 9, one of these men will have a shot at biggest prize in the game – The Super Art Fight Championship.
Having defeated SAF co-founder Jami Noguchi in the first ever “Blackboard Bout”, there’s no denying the skills of newcomer Josh Taylor. His intense skills with the pen combined with his curmudgeonly attitude made him a quick fan favorite, and lead him to the love of the audience, and most importantly, a key victory.
In the case of Bryan “Silent But Violent” Prindiville, he’s fought in tag matches, in battle royales, anywhere the opportunity, he did his best to prove he was worthy of being at the top. But it never really clicked for him until the fateful evening of Super Art Fight 8.
But no matter the road taken, the path has led to the same point. Who will have a title shot at Super Art Fight X? And will they find their hand raised as champion?
It’s Bryan Prindiville vs. Josh Taylor for the #1 Contendership! You aren’t gonna see another bout quite like this one.
Here at SAF HQ, we’re working to ensure that Super Art Fight 9 is the greatest live event that ever live evented.
And after a show like Super Art Fight 8, that takes a lot.
I mean, we already have an amazing main event with Jamie Baldwin vs. Michael Bracco, a stunning musical guest in Peelander-Z, a wide variety of artistic talents signed up to appear…how can we make it better?
OH! HOW ABOUT ANOTHER AWESOME BAND?!
Hang onto your butts, as this stuff just got real – added to our show at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland, it’s Rare Candy!
Rare Candy has built their name as one of the finest video game bands in the world, and luckily enough, they’re located right here in Maryland.
A keyboard driven four piece slamming out some of the greatest songs ever to score some of the greatest games, there’s nothing quite like Rare Candy, and we’re lucky enough to have them on board for SAF9.
Tickets are on sale NOW at MissionTix.com. Pick them up, strap in, and get ready to have your face melted!
For Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco, one thing keeps him up at night.
He’s a very successful artist, having created a number of populargraphic novels and designed an amazing clothing line. He has the best record of everyone in the Super Art Fight roster. He’s even reached the top of the mountain, having been Super Art Fight Champion before. He is arguably one of the most elite talents in this field. However, one competitor keeps haunting him.
That competitor? Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin.
For Jamie Baldwin and Michael Bracco, the rivalry extends all the way back to our second event, on September 20th, 2008. In the first bout presented at the first “true” Super Art Fight live event, Jamie Baldwin defeated Michael Bracco. The first official victory in SAF recorded history.
Bracco then went on to a thus far unmatched four bout winning streak, ultimately becoming Super Art Fight champion at Super Art Fight 4 in July 2009. Bracco continued his winning ways, then when the calendar switched over to 2010, he once again found himself across the canvas from Jamie Baldwin.
Baldwin had fluctuated up and down the SAF rankings, but after putting together a series of impressive wins, she was suddenly the #1 contender. Having been the only person to date to take down Michael Bracco, the odds seemed stacked against her…but as the timer struck zero, Jamie Baldwin found herself a victor. On January 23, 2010, Jamie Baldwin became the 4th Super Art Fight Champion, and the first female to hold the title.
But here we are, almost one year exactly to date, and Michael Bracco is the number one contender. And Jamie Baldwin holds the belt.
For Jamie Baldwin, it’s an opportunity to take her reign into it’s second year, having already set the record for most successful defenses as Super Art Fight champion.
But for Michael Bracco, it’s less about becoming champion. It’s more about finally being able to sleep again.
At Super Art Fight 9, January 21, 2011, only one will walk out as champion. Be there to see who wins.
As it’s the crazy holiday season, and we in Super Art Fight want to make sure that Super Art Fight 9 is the best full-scale SAF event to date, we’ve decided to spread a little fun and make sure that the Wheel of Death is the most treacherous yet!
How, exactly? We’re starting the Wheel of Death Suggestion Post now. RIGHT NOW.
Yes, that’s right, with over a month until showtime, we want you, the great Super Art Fight fans to fill the Wheel of Death with amazing topics and suggestions to keep our artists on their toes and completely change the scope of each bout.
As usual, we request that you retain a level of brevity in your suggestions – “RoboCopTer” is a great suggestion, but “Robocop as Helicopter On Fire Punching a Clown In The Face Who Looks Like Richard Nixon” is just way too particular.
This Wheel of Death post will remain pinned to the top of the site until the day of the show, and suggestions are open until Midnight EST on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011!
EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions everyone! The post is NOW closed. Lets see what makes it to the board on Friday night!
Coming off of an amazing 2010 which allowed us to perform at 17 different events across 6 different states, we at Super Art Fight are proud to announce our first major event for 2011 – Super Art Fight 9.
To be held Friday Night, January 21, 2011 at The Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland, the show promises to deliver our trademark mixture of madness and mayhem which has made us known around the world as The Greatest Live Art Competition In The Known Universe.
Already signed for that evening, coming out of the fallout seen at Super Art Fight 8 is your MAIN EVENT, CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT as Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin will defend her SAF title against Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco!
This main event is one year in the making, as Baldwin first became SAF champion back at Super Art Fight 6 on January 23rd, 2010, defeating Bracco to become champion. Will Jamie Baldwin retain her title, celebrating a record setting one year as champion? Or will the 6-2 Michael Bracco finally get the monkey off his back, defeat Jamie Baldwin for the first time in his SAF career, and become the FIRST EVER Two Time Champion?
Be sure to join us LIVE at the Ottobar on Friday, January 21st to find out in person!
Ticket details, additional talent, musical guest announcements and more are forthcoming.
Start 2011 right, start it with Super Art Fight 9!
