Take an amazing blackbox theatre, a sold out audience of hungry Super Art Fight fans and a team of the greatest artists in the world, and you have last Friday’s Frederick debut, as brought to you by Flying Dog Brewery!
A turn away crowd packed the Frederick Cultural Arts Center, as Super Art Fight headed north and presented three bouts, including a first ever Six Person Tag Bout!
Here’s what went down…
ROAD TO SAF X – BRACCO CHOOSES PRINDIVILLE’S OPPONENT
Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz defeated Bryan “Silent But Violent” Prindiville
The war of tweets between Borkowicz and Prindiville erupted in a very special challenge match, the first time these two competitors have ever faced off in an Art Fight! Borkowicz laid down the gauntlet and Prindiville accepted, as the Wheel of Death was thrown out, and each competitor had a list of topics that their opponent was forced to draw. While Prindivile had a great showing last week in DC, he fell to the skills of the veteran “Ghostfreehood”, as Nick Borkowicz had the audience behind him, and eventually had the victory!
FIRST TIME EVER SAF SIX-PERSON TAG BOUT
The Art Alchemy Circle (Tom “Cheeser” Kemp, Colin Smallwood and Shane Acuff) defeated Super Art Fight All-Stars (Chris “Impact” Impink, Jamie “Brawlin'” Baldwin and Kelsey “Killer” Wailes)
Arguably the most anticipated bout of the evening, it certainly ended up being the wildest! For the first time ever, six individuals tackled our creative canvas in a chaotic conflict! While the SAF All-Stars certainly had the deck stacked with talent, featuring a star rookie, a former champion and the Godfather of SAF, the Art Alchemy Circle had one hell of a debut, deftly striking with their art, and bending to the whims of the WHEEL OF DEATH! The crowd certainly loved them too, as after a bout that broke down to ALL SIX competitors drawing on the canvas, the Alchemy crew had their hands raised as the winners. A great bout from all six parties, and as said that evening, the Art Alchemy Circle are welcome back ANY time.
MAIN EVENT – ROAD TO SAF X – PRINDIVILLE CHOOSES BRACCO’S OPPONENT
Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco defeated Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi
A battle of two SAF Champions, one past and one present, Bracco and Noguchi wrapped up our night in Frederick with a true classic. A prime example of two talents on the top of their game, each artist showed textbook examples of how an Art Fight is to work, and blew the Frederick crowd away with their skills and ability. It was a tight bout down to the wire, but with a last minute surprise WORM, Michael Bracco picked up a much needed win on the way to SAFX in Baltimore on April 22nd!
All and all, it was an amazing night in front of an amazing crowd.
We cannot thank Flying Dog enough for sponsoring the night, the Frederick Arts Council for having us, and finally, to the fans in Frederick, we thank you SO MUCH for selling out the venue.
We heard that some of you were unfortunately locked out of the evening, and for that we are sorry, but if we can say anything, it is this – Frederick, Maryland…we will be back!
