This past Friday night, fans made it through the awful rainy weather and packed the Ottobar for the latest in our ongoing series of main event shows – Super Art Fight X!
Jampacked full of artfighting goodness with FOUR big time bouts, not to mention amazing musical performances by Club Scout and MC Lars (featuring Weerd Science), the show was an absolute marathon of awesome that left the audience blown away.
Miss the evening and want to know what went down? Here are your official results.
Bout #1: Kelsey “Killer” Wailes defeated Chelsea “Grose Misconduct” Grose to become the #1 Contender for the Super Art Fight Championship.
The evening started strong with two of SAF’s best clashing for a shot at the top. Each artist came prepared with their own costumes (Wailes as a Monster, Grose as Maleficent) and tackled the canvas with unabashed abandon. Neck and neck throughout the 25 minute battle, it seemed like it was anyone’s game, but in the end, Kelsey Wailes found herself the victor, and on her way toward SAF gold!
Bout #2: Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi and Mystery Partner Mecha Impact! defeated Team Sexy Science! (Caldwell Tanner & Jamie Baldwin)
The latest and greatest addition to Super Art Fight, our madcap tag division once again entranced the Ottobar audience, as both teams battled hard, wanting the opportunity to gain a shot at the SAF tag titles at SAFXI. It seemed that Jami Noguchi was actually going to take on Team Sexy Science by himself, but he had a surprise in store for the labcoated duo. As Noguchi started to wain, he called out and – in one of the loudest audience reactions in Super Art Fight history – the fans went ballistic as MECHA IMPACT made his debut! Suffice to say, from that moment forward, the bout was in the bag, a welcome return to the winning side of things for both Noguchi and Impink.
Bout #3: GRUDGE MATCH! Brandon J. Carr defeated Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz
A rematch from our DC debut, many who saw this bout last month couldn’t wait to see it again at the Ottobar, and neither competitor disappointed! Carr and Borkowicz (dressed as Magneto and Cable respectively) gave their all in one of the most tightly contested bouts of the night. While it certainly seemed Borkowicz had victory in the bag, a last minute rally allowed Brandon J. Carr to sneak past and grab the win, continuing his amazing undefeated streak. You have to believe he’s in consideration for a future SAF title shot at this rate.
Bout #4: Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco defeated Bryan “Silent But Violent” Prindiville to retain his Super Art Fight Championship.
We knew going into this bout that it was going to be one of the most hard fought championship bouts in SAF history – but man oh man did it deliver in ways we did not anticipate! Bracco and Prindiville came out swinging, covering the canvas in large art, jockeying for position and each trying to out do each other as the minutes ticked down. The fans, clearly divided into Bracco and Prindiville cheering sections each wanted their man to win the battle – but it all came down to the decibel readings. With just FRACTIONS of a point separating the two, Bracco came away with the first successful defense of his second reign, but Prindiville knew that it wouldn’t be too long before he’d be challenging again.
What a great night it was. We’d like to once again thank the Ottobar for hosting us, you fans for coming out and Alliance Comics and ThinkGeek for sponsoring the evening. We’ll see you on May 21st for Super Art Fight Idol, sometime in July or August for SAFXI and more dates to come in our summer schedule. See you all REAL soon!
It seems for as long as we can remember, people have been asking us…
How can I be a part of Super Art Fight?
For almost three years now, we’ve been slowly growing a roster of amazingly talented and diverse artists. Our unique illustrators have the amazing ability to not only create amazing artwork in high pressure situations, but change their ideas on the fly, curtailing their work in progress to bend to the whims of the audience, and the Wheel of Death. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve found a way to be entertaining during it as well.
Suffice to say, it’s been a hard search for us to find artists of this caliber, but on Saturday afternoon, May 21st, 2011 at the Metro Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland. The search will GO PUBLIC.
That’s right folks, it’s time for Super Art Fight IDOL.
16 artists will be hand picked to battle it out in a one-day single elimination tournament, judged on their artist skill and bigger than life personalities, these artists will eventually be boiled down to two – with the last two artists battling as a part of Super Art Fight XI this coming summer, for a FULL TIME SAF Roster spot!
So, how do you get in on this? Simple – email us today to saftryouts@gmail.com. Include your name, information and a link to your art portfolio so that we can see what sort of skills you’ve got.
All information must be to us by Saturday, May 7th, 2011.
As for the fans – if you just wanna see the tournament live, don’t worry, it’s going to be 100% free for you! We are charging no admission for this event, but please remember, if you want to draw on the 21st, you must be pre-approved by our staff. We look forward to announcing the sweet sixteen and their bracket pairings in the weeks to come.
Do you have what it takes? Email us today, and we’ll see what you’ve got!

I can’t believe we’ve made it this far, Marty! From humble beginnings three years ago in the upstairs of the Ottobar while an MC Chris show was happening downstairs to TEN FULL SHOWS there, now featuring MC Lars!
Marty: We sure do love our white rappers, don’t we?

With just two weeks away until our Ottobar return for Super Art Fight X, the internet has been asking – WHAT IS THE FINAL BOUT?
Well, we’re ready to share it with you. Top to bottom, the 3 bouts announced so far represent 3 of the strongest one on one matches in SAF history. So you know what that means – IT’S TIME FOR A TAG BOUT!
That’s right, the new division lighting up Art Fight cards in 2011 continues into our landmark 10th main event show at the Ottobar, and this is going to be a bout with major consequences on the tag rankings.
On one side, you have a team of competitors who cannot wait to get back on the winning side of things. On the other, you have a true Super Art Fight veteran with a mystery on his side.
April 22nd – The Ottobar – Baltimore, Maryland…your face will be melted and you will be rocked to your very core by….
SAF TAG BOUT
JAMIE “BRAWLIN’” BALDWIN & CALDWELL TANNER
versus
JAMI “ANGRY ZEN MASTER” NOGUCHI & A MYSTERY PARTNER!
Now, you may ask – what makes this bout so particularly important? Much like our singles rankings, we intend to introduce SUPER ART FIGHT TAG TITLES at Super Art Fight XI this summer – the WINNING TEAM in this bout will go on to face Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz and Kelsey “Killer” Wailes in the TITLE DECISION BOUT!
When we announced our two events on the Road to SAFX, we said the bouts held there would directly impact the card for Super Art Fight X. The third bout to be announced for the show proves this in spades.
During our sold out Washington DC debut, fans were able to see a first time match, a match that many behind the scenes were looking forward to, but no one knew how it would deliver.
On one side, you had SAF rookie Brandon J. Carr, an undefeated record under his belt, in front of his hometown audience.
On the other, you had a true Super Art Fight legend in Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz, a man who has seen success in both the singles and tag competitions, ready to see his creation take on a new city.
And how they battled, dazzling an audience full of existing SAF fans and converting those who had yet to learn what an art fight really meant yet.
When the dust settled, Brandon J. Carr had his hand raised in victory. But everyone knew that it really wasn’t over.
Once it came time to set the matches for SAFX, we knew one had to be made for sure – and on April 22nd at the Ottobar in Baltimore, we WILL deliver.
It will be…
HIGH STAKES GRUDGE MATCH!
Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz vs. Brandon J. Carr
You might be wondering – what makes it high stakes? Each artist is putting something up that is very near and dear to them. What will it be? You will have to join us at the Ottobar on April 22nd to find out for sure.
Buy your tickets NOW at MissionTix.com, don’t be left out!
Since January 23rd, 2011, the Road to SAFX has been underway with Bryan Prindiville as the #1 contender to the SAF Championship.
But come April 22nd atSuper Art Fight X we’ll begin a new road – the road to Super Art Fight XI, a road lead by a new number one contender – but WHO will be the challenger?
We’ll find out with a very important match.
Since January 23rd, all of the Super Art Fight roster has been at their best, knowing that between appearances at Katsucon 17, at the Red Palace in DC and the Cultural Arts Center in Fredrick, their performances would be watched, valued and judge, with two artists being given a shot to ascend to the top of the mountain, and get a shot at the SAF title.
Who will it be?
On April 22nd in Baltimore at the Ottobar, Super Art Fight is PROUD to present…
#1 Contender’s Bout – Winner Gets a SAF Title Shot At SAF XI
Chelsea “Grose Misconduct” Grose vs. Kelsey “Killer” Wailes
Chelsea Grose having returned to her winning ways, with only one loss under her belt, having defeated former SAF champion Jami Noguchi in DC was an absolute no brainer for one half of this amazing semi-main event. But don’t count out Kelsey Wailes. Since her debut at Super Art Fight 4, she’s quietly built a name for herself, and gained victories over not just one, but TWO past Super Art Fight Champions over our Spring 2011 tour.
Either way, come Super Art Fight XI, we will see new faces in the SAF Title scene, and we cannot wait for the new generation to truly break through.
Join us on April 22nd, won’t you? Get your tickets today at MissionTix.com. Just $12!
On April 22nd in Baltimore, we celebrate our return to the Ottobar for Super Art Fight X, with not just one of our greatest top to bottom cards to date, but also with two of our best musical guests ever!
Each act has some SAF history, and it’s an honor to bring them both to the stage.
So who will you see that night?
First up is the awesome powerpop four piece – Club Scout!
Recently off of playing shows with SAF favorites Anamanaguchi, Club Scout comes to us from the Washington DC area. Featuring Ben Eiserike on vocals/guitar, Javier Diaz on guitar, Jeremy Charpentier on bass and our old pal Joe Ostrosky from SAF show veterans Karmella’s Game on drums, they’ve blown away audiences every time out, and we’re very pleased to feature them on April 22nd.
That, in an of itself, would be a show to see. But at Super Art Fight, we’re overachievers.
So we reached out to a true nerdcore legend, and sure enough, he said he’d indulge us. Your headlining musical act for SAFX – the one, the ONLY, MC LARS!
If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing MC Lars live, you’re in for a treat that evening at the Ottobar. A truly self made success, Lars has been in the nerdcore rap game since 1999, when he released an album under the name Lars Horris. That kicked off a whirlwind career including countless albums, a webcomic, self published books, his own record label, and enough jams to keep the iGeneration rockin’. This isn’t the first time we’ve had the pleasure of working with MC Lars, but it IS the first time we’ve performed together, and we cannot wait to showcase him live.
April 22nd truly is going to be a night like no other, and as we announce the final few matches for the evening, tickets WILL be flying. Get your tickets now – pick them up from MissionTix.com, and join us for an amazing night of entertainment – join us for SUPER ART FIGHT X!
