With our amazing 2011 season continuing on with today’s announcements for Super Art Fight 11, it’s time to take a look back at one of our biggest (and arguably best) shows to date – Super Art Fight 9.
Having taken place at The Ottobar back on January 21st, 2011 more than 400 of you packed the venue to the brim, seeing four amazing bouts, plus performances from Peelander-Z and Rare Candy.
The amazing Zach Jopling cut together the above highlight video, over 13 minutes in length, and capturing many amazing moments from the evening.
If you’ve never seen a Super Art Fight before, this is a great start. Maybe you’ve heard that we’re gonna have Ananamanaguchi at our next show and are wondering what you’re in for? Any way you cut it, click play above and get ready for the awesome.
And be sure to join us back in Baltimore on August 20th for Super Art Fight 11!
Heading into Super Art Fight 11, we knew we needed something new and different for our musical guest.
We needed a band that appealed to our audience, but we needed something…new. Something not really seen at the Ottobar thus far. We’ve brought you amazing local rock bands. We’ve brought you amazing Japanese punk rock. We’ve brought you reinterpreted video game music. We’ve brought you some of the finest in nerdcore hip hop.
How does some amazing 8-bit rock and roll sound?
Awesome? DAMN RIGHT – as Saturday Night, August 20th, 2011, we are proud to announce our headlining musical guest…ANAMANAGUCHI!!!
Perhaps best known for having their music featured at Penny Arcade’s bi-annual PAX gaming festival, as the opening of the hyperpopular Nerdist podcast or for providing the soundtrack to the videogame version of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Anamanaguchi has been melting faces around the world, and we’re proud to feature them for the FIRST TIME on the Ottobar stage.
Tickets for Super Art Fight 11 will go on sale FRIDAY at MissionTix.com for just $15, and we will announce the secondary musical act very soon. For out of towners, you may want to know that our show will be going on the same weekend as Baltimore Comic Con, so you can make a weekend out of it! If you’ll be joining us, be sure to drop in and RSVP on our Facebook event, we are on there, after all.
More details for SAF11 to come soon, including a full card. In the meantime, for those who have never heard Anamanaguchi before, here’s a sample track – “Airbrushed”!
Next Saturday Night, June 18th, 2011, we at Super Art Fight proudly return to The Red Palace in Washington DC.
Coming off of our amazing, SOLD OUT debut last March, we knew we had to return with something special.
Not only will we be joined once again by some of Washington DC’s finest burlesque performers between bouts, it’s going to be a very unique show, as each bout will be a very special battle of established Super Art Fight all-stars against a new generation of talent – Generational Warfare begins at the Red Palace!
Here’s the card you’ll see next Saturday night:
SAF IDOL VS. SAF ALL-STAR: Dann “Charm City Shinobi” Malihom versus Kelsey “Killer” Wailes Last month, 16 fantastic talents battled for a shot at the Super Art Fight roster. While we ended up with 3 finalists, we announced that day that it was far from the last time you’d see these talents in action. We live up to our word as “Charm City Shinobi” Dann Malihom will battle current #1 Contender Kelsey “Killer” Wailes. Dann’s talent will be pushed to the limits as he battles one of the most unique and unorthodox competitors on the SAF roster. Will he get a chance to shine? Or will Kelsey snuff his light out?!
SAF IDOL FINALIST V. SAF LEGEND: Darl Gnau versus Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz At last month’s Super Art Fight IDOL event, Darl Gnau impressed the judges and made his way to the finals at Super Art Fight XI. However, we wanted to see how Darl would fair up against one of our best talents – Super Art Fight co-founder Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz. Darl has shown he has a comparable style and flair similar to the legendary Ghostfreehood, but on June 18th, we’ll see how well they match up together. Who will win? Join us at the Red Palace to find out!
UNDEFEATED SENSATION V. SAF LEGEND: Brandon J. Carr versus Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi At our Washington DC debut last March, two talents in particular found their way into the audience’s hearts. Carr, the rookie sensation (who has put together quite the undefeated record), grabbed his hometown audience’s appreciation in the first bout of the night. Noguchi, a co-creator of Super Art Fight and the first SAF champion, made it a night to remember with an outlandish battle against Chelsea Grose. On June 18th, it’s going to be one for the ages as we pair these talents up for a first time battle. This could have serious repercussions on the championship rankings, and there’s only one way to see it – live and in person!
Be sure to join us NEXT Saturday night at The Red Palacein Washington DC for this unique and amazing show.
3 stunning bouts and some of the most amazing burlesque talent in the area will make for a surefire Saturday night. Get your tickets now (just $15), and insure that you’ll be able to join us as we rock DC once more!
