The most dangerous device in Super Art Fight is hands down….THE WHEEL OF DEATH.
The reckless random topic generator has made veterans fall, rookies shine and champions into legends, and at Super Art Fight 11, the fate of the wheel is once again…in your hands.
As we do every show, we are proud to once again open up the WHEEL OF DEATH Suggestion Post to you, our fans – please feel free to add any and all topics for our artists to draw on Saturday Night, August 20th at The Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland.
Per usual, we recommend brevity in your topic suggestions – “Rollerskating Robocop” is a much stronger suggestion than “Rollerskating Robocop Riding A Pony While Eating Licorice and Pondering The State of The Greek Economy”. Give our artists the ability to take some risks, use some ingenuity and blow the audience away. Any topics can/may be edited before final use before showtime, and your submission of topics within this post becomes the property of Super Art Fight LLC for use in any/all future live events.
Topics will be collected for use until Tuesday Night, August 16th, so suggest early, suggest often, and be sure to join us LIVE to see what topics make it to the boards! Your topics will choose champions, new artists and the future path of Super Art Fight – choose wisely.
As we get closer and closer to Super Art Fight 11 at The Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, August 20th, 2011, it comes to us that this might just be the most stacked show we’ve EVER had.
TWO title bouts (including the first ever Super Art Fight Tag Title bout), the finals of Super Art Fight IDOL, plus an amazing musical guest in Anamanaguchi, we could probably just rest on our laurels until showtime, right?
But we realized that the awesome art fight cake with Anamanaguchi frosting we put together needed something more, something to put the show over the top. Some sprinkles, if you will. The silly plastic figurine on the cake. Maybe even the edible laser printer design placed upon the cake.
…maybe not that last one, it sucks, but YOU GET THE IDEA. SOMETHING ELSE AWESOME.
So we got ourselves another musical act, one that you may not know by name, but we feel will have you totally psyched come showtime – Bear & Walrus.
A chiptune duo splitting between Philadelphia, PA and our homebase of Baltimore, MD, Chad Clikeman & Zachary Reese put together some absolutely stunning 8-bit flavored music that is sure to grab your attention, draw you in and have you jammin’ out on August 20th.
You can check out their latest album, Image Poems, plus their prior releases, on their Bandcamp website, which is right here. Give them a listen and you’ll be sure to see why they are the sprinkles for the evening, making Super Art Fight 11 one of our biggest shows yet.
Be sure to get your tickets EARLY, and get them AS SOON AS YOU can, right now from MissionTix.com, just $15, and be sure to join us on August 20th at The Ottobar!
Yes indeed Baltimore, it’s that time of year once again where the sun is blistering, the temperature is record breaking, those dudes on the street are shilling ice cold water and thousands upon thousands of costumed folk storm the Baltimore Convention Center – it’s Otakon 2011.
While unlike other conventions, we will not have a show during this event, Super Art Fight will still be in attendance! As we gear up for August 20th at the Ottobar with Super Art Fight 11, plus our fall appearances in Frederick, MD and at Intervention 2011, we will be set up in Otakon’s Artist’s Alley with the full catalog of SAF tees, prints and gettin’ you folks signed up to our mailing list and good and hyped for our next season of shows!
If you’re gonna be at Otakon this weekend, be sure to stop over and say hi! Fistbumps are free, and will be given out en masse – SEE YOU THERE!
Battled in the shadow of Otakon 2009, Super Art Fight 4 was a momentous night for SAF as a whole. But for two individuals, it was a key night in their Art Fight destiny.
Kelsey Wailes - She made her debut at Super Art Fight 4, outlasting and defeating 5 other competitors in the first ever “Do or Die” Battle Royale, securing a Super Art Fight roster spot and beginning a path that has made her one of the most popular competitors in our league today.
Michael Bracco - After suffering a key loss in his debut, Bracco battled back, forming an impressive undefeated streak, and at Super Art Fight 4 he defeated 3 of SAF’s greatest, securing his first ever Super Art Fight Championship. Arguably Super Art Fight’s franchise player, he’s parlayed this key moment into a second Super Art Fight championship reign and an ever growing, very vocal fanbase.
Now, over two years later, the destiny of these competitors will once again cross paths – but this time, it will be against each other.
At Super Art Fight 11, on Saturday Night, August 20th live from The Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland, your main event will be….
Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco (Champion)
vs. Kelsey “Killer” Wailes (Challenger)
Kelsey Wailes, as a number #1 contender to not one, but two titles, is looking to leave the Ottobar with one, perhaps TWO titles wrapped around her waist. Michael Bracco wants to continue his record setting second world title reign, showing that he truly is THE man in Super Art Fight…but can he defeat Kelsey Wailes?
Bracco is coming off of a string of road losses, including losing to Wailes at Katsucon 17 this past February – will she have his number? Will a new Super Art Fight Champion be crowned?
Only one way to find out, and one way to truly enjoy it – JOIN US LIVE, AT THE OTTOBAR, ON SATURDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 20TH for SUPER ART FIGHT 11.
Tickets are on sale NOW at MissionTix.com - get them NOW, and be sure to not get shut out!
Stay tuned as we present even more information on forthcoming bouts, including the Super Art Fight IDOL finals, and the crowning of the inaugural Super Art Fight Tag Champions!
For the third year in a row, the Super Art Fight fanbase has spoken. While we may be Baltimore born and bread, Hartford, CT really is our secondary home.
In the shadow of a company who we borrow more than a few concepts from, we made our Connecticon return, and in front of over 2000 screaming fans, put on one of the biggest shows of our existence. Art Fighters past, present and future were gathered for one of the most unique bouts ever, The SAF Rumble, and the main event pitted two longtime fan favorites in a bout to finally end years long undefeated streaks.
What went down? Here you go, gang.
Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz defeated Super Art Fight ChampionMichael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco The show kicked off with two SAF vets, as two competitors known for their theatricality battled tooth and nail, not only setting the pace for the event themselves, but showing CTCon what Art Fighting is all about. While he was dressed as a Gorilla, Borkowicz proved he wasn’t monkeying around, as he scored a key road victory over the reigning SAF champion, the flamboyant Michael Bracco.
Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi outlasted 12 other competitors to win the first ever Super Art Fight Rumble. First in…and last out. Earning a new nickname of “Iron Man”, our own Angry Zen Master conquered one of the difficult victories in SAF history – defeating 12 other art fighters in a non-stop elimination bout. We saw SAF All Stars like Caldwell Tanner, Garth Graham and Jamie Baldwin; SAF Idolists such as Peter Johnson, Mike Donahue, Ashley Harnden and Rain Tessman; and outside talent such as David Willis, Joel Watson, Alina Pete and Alex Heberling – our own DERN got into the action, but Jami stepped up and took them all down. It was a madcap performance the likes of which had never been seen at an SAF before, but on this day, Jami went the distance – having his hand raised in victory, and the trophy going home with him. An amazing spectacle that could only be held at a stage as large (literally and figuratively) as Connecticon.
Yuko Ota defeated Lar DeSouza in the Main Event of the evening. Joining us both for Connecticon 2009 and live event since, Yuko and Lar were two of the most respected and beloved art fighters to never become full-time roster members. But more so than that, they shared the same record – completely undefeated. With two big name talents such as they, we knew that on this day, a very special main event had to be held, and both delivered. The battle went everywhere, across all 6 panels, onto an additional four, and it drew the crowd into such a frenzy that our commentators were left silent by the cheers and chants. At the end of the 25 minute period, only one could walk away with a perfect record, and on that day, Connecticon chose Yuko Ota as the victor! An amazing performance from both artists, and a bout that will be talked about for some time to come.
Once again, we at Super Art Fight would like to thank each and every one of you who packed the Connecticon Main Events room for a show that just a few years ago was breaking fire codes. It’s an honor and a pleasure to perform for you every year, and if you thought this show was amazing, just wait until 2012!
Big thanks again to Alyssa Mow for booking us again, and Eric Badger for making sure we were taken care of all weekend long. Connecticon is truly a classy show that shows other cons how it should be done. Our New England Swing was an amazing weekend, and we hope to see you folks up north again real soon!
This past Thursday evening, our New England Swing kicked off with a stop in Boston, Massachusetts, as we had the honor and pleasure of kicking off vitaminwater® Uncapped LIVE Boston, a month long event just a block away from Fenway Park, with music, fashion and other great live events, all being sponsored by your pals and ours, vitaminwater®.
Before a jam-packed VIP crowd (and a select batch of Boston-area Super Art Fight fans), we featured 2 fantastic bouts, sandwiching a live performance from the awesome Bodega Girls.
Seen on that card was as follows…
Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi defeated Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin
Team Boston (Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb) defeated Team Super Art Fight (Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco and The Business Ninja, Henry Alexander)
All and all it was an amazing evening, with the Boston artists making a very impactful debut, defeating the current SAF champion and an SAF Idol finalist, meaning it sure wont be the last you see of Shelli or Braden, and Jami Noguchi set the stage for what would be a momentous weekend.
It was an absolute pleasure to return to Boston, and we hope to come back very soon. Huge thanks again to vitaminwater® for hosting us, and to the audience for being so rad.
If you missed the show, don’t worry! The folks at SumoSkinny shot a video of the evening, and put it online. Here it is for your enjoyment, or to relive the night! Enjoy!
It’s hard to believe, but it’s already been one year since our last trip up north to be apart of one of the greatest multi-genre conventions in the world, Connecticon.
In 2009, we debuted to much fanfare, filling a room so tight the fire marshall was called.
In 2010, we were bumped up to main events, performing in front of over 2,000 screaming Art Fight fans, in one of our biggest shows ever.
This year, we RETURN, once again performing in the main events room, and we intend to deliver one of the best out-of-state Super Art Fight appearances EVER.
As the second half of our NEW ENGLAND SWING this week, following Thursday night’s Boston, Mass. appearance, we’ll be a part of the convention all weekend long, but the important part is that Super Art Fight will be occurring Saturday Afternoon, July 9th.
Confirmed to appear as a part of this history-making card so far…
Super Art Fight Co-FounderNick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz
Super Art Fight Co-Founder Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi
Current Super Art Fight ChampionMichael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco (First time CTCon appearance!)
Former Super Art Fight ChampionJamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin (First time CTCon appearance)
Loldwell.com/CollegeHumor.com’s Caldwell Tanner
Least I Could Do/Looking For Group’s Lar DeSouza
More to be announced!
Not only will this be the first time a reigning Super Art Fight champion appears on a Connecticon card, not only will we feature TWO memorable one-on-one bouts, we will be premiering a Super Art Fight first…
THE SUPER ART FIGHT RUMBLE
Twelve, yes…TWELVE artists will compete in an absolute art fight free-for-all, with the winner taking home The Super Art Fight Rumble trophy. We’ve never done a battle of this scale before, and we knew that if we were doing it anywhere, we HAD to do it before the crazy crowd at Connecticon. Art Fighters new and old will be tackling the canvas in this amazing battle, but only one will win.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to join us – this truly will be an SAF event for the ages, and will be talked about for some time to come.
Later this week, we intend to announce the two one on one bouts for the show, and we will be announcing competitors for the SAF Rumble on our Twitter feed as the show gets closer, so be sure to follow it!
If you checked our regularly updated Twitter feed, you may have noticed we have something special planned. And folks, it’s a big one.
